Commercial Arborists

Tree Control delivers commercial tree services using four customised high-reach machines, and no one else in New Zealand runs a fleet like it. Our operators work with dangerous trees from inside the machine, so nobody has to climb the tree. Jobs that once took days can be done in hours.

We work with councils, orchards, contractors, developers, utility companies, and project managers across the North Island. If a large or high-risk tree is holding up your site, road, or orchard, our commercial arborists deal with it in a planned, controlled way that protects everything around it.

Dangerous Trees Managed without Shutting Your Site Down

Our commercial tree trimming and removal work covers three services. Each one is designed for trees that are too big, too close, or too risky for a standard crew.

Commercial Tree Removal Services for High-Risk Trees

Our commercial tree removal services focus on trees that threaten buildings, roads, stock, orchard structures, or power lines.

Rather than dropping the whole tree, the machine holds each section, separates it with a hydraulic chainsaw head, and lowers it slowly to the ground. Nearby fences, roofs, buildings, structures, plantings, and other assets stay protected.

High Tree Topping for Trees Too Big to Climb

Some trees don’t need to come down. They just need to be lower. High tree topping reduces the height of very large trees beside commercial buildings, roads, and power lines.

With a reach of up to 30m, we can top trees that other operators can’t even quote for.

Shelterbelt Topping That Protects Orchard Production

Orchards across the North Island, particularly in the Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, and Hawke’s Bay, rely on shelterbelts, but overgrown ones shade the canopy and become harder to manage each season.

We bring shelterbelts back to a manageable height, and our full-tree chipper turns the material into wood chips you can return to the orchard.

Who Our Commercial Tree Care Team Works With

Our commercial tree care is built for clients where downtime, safety, and liability all matter. That includes:

  • Councils and Infrastructure Crews: Roadside trees and corridor hazards are dealt with on a planned schedule, and at times under night works, with less disruption to road users.
  • Orchards: Shelterbelt topping and dangerous tree removal that keep canopies productive and work areas safe.
  • Developers and Civil Contractors: High-risk trees removed safely before earthworks or construction begins.
  • Commercial Property Managers: Large trees over buildings, car parks, and boundaries brought back under control.

Why Machine-Led Work Is Safer and Faster on Commercial Sites

Most commercial tree services near you still send an arborist up the tree in a climbing harness. Our fleet changes that, which is why other operators often can’t help with many of the jobs we take on.

No One Has to Climb the Tree

Our operators work from inside the machine, well clear of the tree. That removes the biggest risk of any high-tree job and lowers your health and safety exposure as the site owner.

Controlled Lowering from Start to Finish

Each section is held by the machine, separated with the hydraulic chainsaw head, and set down exactly where we choose. We’re never guessing where a limb will land.

Jobs That Took Days Now Take Hours

Faster work means shorter road closures, less disruption to orchard operations, and fewer crews on your site. For commercial clients, time on site costs money, so finishing sooner matters.

Roadside Work with Traffic Still Moving

Because the work happens from the machine, we can often manage roadside trees while traffic keeps flowing.

Compliance Sorted Before We Arrive

Commercial jobs come with rules, so we plan around them from the first site visit.

  • Power Lines: Under the Electricity (Hazards from Trees) Regulations 2003, tree owners must keep trees clear of power lines. The required distances increased in October 2024, so trees that were fine a few years ago may now need work.
  • Exclusion Zones: We set up a clear work zone so people, vehicles, and stock stay out of the area while we lower sections.
  • Council Rules: Some trees are protected under the local district plan, so we check before any work starts.
  • Certified Team: Our qualified arborists bring commercial arborist know-how to every job we take on.

How a Commercial Job Runs

Site Assessment

We visit the site to check the tree, the ground, and access. We also note what needs protecting nearby, such as buildings, orchard structures, power lines, and roads.

Plan & Approvals

We confirm the method, the exclusion zone, and any council or line owner requirements, so you know how the job will run before we arrive on site.

Machine Setup

We position the right machine for the tree and secure the work zone, including site controls on roadsides or busy commercial sites.

Controlled Tree Work

For commercial tree trimming or removal, the operator tops or removes the tree from inside the machine, lowering one section at a time with no one in the tree.

Clean-Up

We chip the material and leave the site tidy, with no further work required. The wood chips can stay on site for high-quality mulch or landscaping.

Book a Site Assessment for Your Commercial Property

A large or dangerous tree on a commercial site is a liability until it’s dealt with properly. The safest option is a planned, controlled job with no one in the tree.

Tree Control provides tree services in Tauranga and across the wider Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions. Our fleet handles the high-reach commercial work that other teams can’t. Contact us to book a site assessment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does a commercial tree service from Tree Control include?

Our commercial tree service covers dangerous tree removal, high tree topping, and shelterbelt topping for councils, orchards, contractors, and businesses. We use high-reach machines on every job to keep our crews safe and complete the job efficiently.

Can you remove a dangerous tree near power lines on a commercial site?

Yes. Our machines lower each section in a controlled way, well clear of the lines. We plan every job around the Electricity (Hazards from Trees) Regulations 2003 and hold accreditations with major lines companies.

Do I need council consent to remove a tree on my commercial property?

Sometimes. Notable trees listed in the City Plan may need consent before any work starts. We’ll raise this during the site assessment so you can check with your local council early.

How long do commercial tree removal services take?

It depends on the tree and your site, but jobs that take a climbing crew days are often done in hours with our fleet. We’ll confirm timing after the site assessment.

Do you provide commercial tree services in Waikato?

Yes. We’re based in Tauranga and work across the Bay of Plenty and Waikato. If you need commercial tree services near you, we can come to your site for an assessment and quote.
